If there is a Fashion Designer from Newyork fashion week whom I really look forward to, it is Tom Ford. Tom Ford is one of the most popular names of the fashion industry. He is known to be a celebrity favorite. He has built up a brand that everyone wants to wear. His work is known for being practical, wearable but still ultra-chic and glamorous. He is not just a designer but is a filmmaker as well and is also known to be the Chairman of the board of the council of the CFDA.
So when Tom Ford decided to show his latest collection from Ready to wear fall-winter 2020 in Los Angeles, right before the Oscar weekend, the front row was adorned with the huge celebrity line up. From Jennifer Lopez to Renne Zellweger, Kylie Jenner, Rosi Huntington Whitley, Anna Wintour all made sure to be present on one of the most loved designers from America.
Undoubtedly, he is a celebrity favorite but we are not here to know who made it to his show, we are here because we loved his clothes and his designs. Talking about the show, he sent a total of 52 looks down the runway, including men and women both. The collection was inspired by his current city of stay, LA which means it was practical, wearable yet so glam and contemporary, topped up with eye-catching and striking accessories.
There were Denim skirts, Floral skirts, Slouchy trousers, and some full-length sequin skirts. Deconstructed denim used for the skirt and trousers looked really cool. The skirts were paired with sleeveless Sweatshirts with huge cuts around the arms. Joggers matched with floor gazing cape-like caftans were so LA appropriate, laid back but still put together, The feather danglers worn by the models, appeared to be dipped in gold and were seen in varied bright colors and added the perfect amount of playfulness to the looks. The sleek pulled to a side hairdo with a clean bun at the back was the hairstyle that we can easily recreate ourselves. The hair accessory trend that appeared on Spring Summer 2019 runway does not seem to slow down and was seen here in the form of a flower-shaped clip on the side of the forehead. Platform heels worn with socks was another dramatic accessory that you could not miss. Satan and Velvet material was used in the collection that brought the lux feel to the clothes.
The pencil skirts with a flare at the hemline, in grey and floral in the beginning were one of the most striking and practical looks. Plane sweatshirt sleeveless tops matched with printed fancy skirts were some of the looks easy to recreate. Anyone could rock this look, which is what Tom Ford is all about.
Tom Ford shows are never complete without sending down a series of evening wear. Lacy gowns were sent down the runway that left nothing to the imagination as the models walked almost naked. One of the most beautiful looks was a crystal-embellished silver gown with two bows in black and worn by Bella Hadid.
There were few Men’s looks as well showing a lot of beautiful jackets in Black, Pink, Khaki paired with Slouchy trousers and chunky shades with thick rims. Long strapped totes with Tom Ford printed in huge fonts were worn by many models. The men’s wear included slouchy trousers in Satan and Velvet, in bright shades of purple, mustard, black and brown. The jackets worn by the boys were big chunky but still made quite a statement.
The last look was bridal wear in a Lace body-hugging gown, drop shoulder neckline and a huge veil. The model looked gorgeous in the look. This was the first time Tom Ford sent a Bride down the runway and the look was gorgeous.
Overall, the collection had quite a lot of LA practically served with the perfect dose of the glam quotient. It was one of the shows that leave you inspired and deserve pinboard to your inspiration wall.
